Dr. S K Pant received his research degree from the University of Roorkee, now Indian Institute of Technology, in the year 1983. He has been with the Institute for more than three decades and has served the institute in various categories both in academic as well as in administration. His research interests have largely been in the area of social development, environment and sanitation. He has directed a number of projects on the development problems of Uttar Pradesh and other neighbouring states of the country. He has numerous publications to his credit. He has so far written six books : (i ): Gender Bias in Girl Child Education, Kanishka Publishers, Distributors, New Delhi; (ii): Social Development in Rural India Study of Uttar Pradesh; Rawat Publication, Jaipur, 2004; (iii):Social Sector in India, Rawat Publications, Jaipur, 2005; (iv): Human Development : Concepts , Issues and Globalisation, Rawat Publications, Jaipur; 2006 (v): Roots And Wings Reinforcing Sanitation and Hygiene in Schools, Allied Publishers, New Delhi, 2011; (vi): Research Methods for Practioners, Atlantic Publishers & Distributors, New Delhi, 2017. In addition he teaches two full courses on Qunatitative Techniques and Research Methods to the students of Business Management of the Institute and Research Methods to M. Phil students which the Institute has stared recently. He has so far guided four doctoral students and one M Phil student. He has also been the Coordinator and Key resource person for the course on Computer Application in Social Science Data Analysis, which the Institute organized for the research students and College and University teachers, the program was sponsored by the Indian Council for Social Science Institute, New Delhi.
